Lee Aaron is a Canadian rock and jazz singer who is best known for hit singles such as 'Metal Queen', 'Whatcha Do To My Body' and ‘Sex With Love’. Aaron was born Karen Lynne Greening in Ontario, Canada, in 1962, and started singing in school musicals when she was just 5 years old, and was discovered at the age of 15 in a musical production and asked to join a local rock group called Lee Aaron, where she sang and played several instruments.
At 17, after signing with her first manager Bob Connolly - who sacked the band - she kept the name for herself and was marketed as a pin-up girl.
She released her debut album, in 1982: 'The Lee Aaron Project', which was followed up with the 1984 LP 'Metal Queen', after the singer signed a multi-album deal with Attic Records. This shot Aaron to fame in hard rock circles – and the following year she walked out of her management deal with Connolly.
Between 1984 and 1992, she toured non-stop, taking in 20 European tours with appearances in Japan and the States, and releasing 6 albums on Attic Records in Canada.
Aaron won 3 Toronto Music Awards for best female vocalist and topped many European music polls during this period. Her most successful album, 'Body Rock' released in 1989, spawned several hit tunes, including; 'Whatcha Do You Do To My Body' – and the LP went double platinum in Canada alone.
She left Attic records in 1992 to set up her own label, Hip Chic Music, releasing 'Emotional Rain' in 1994, and '2 Precious' in 1995 – where she reverted to her real name. Although this album was critically acclaimed, it did not sell well.
Aaron went on to explore jazz and blues, and in 2000, released the album 'Slick Chick', and by 2002 she was cast with the Modern Baroque Opera Company.
Combining the different styles of music she had taken under her belt, she released 'Beautiful Things', a pop-jazz mix, in 2004.
Aaron continues to play both rock and jazz shows.
