Everly Brothers
The Everly Brothers steel-string guitar playing and close harmony singing made them the most successful U.S. rock and roll duo ever on the Hot 100. Brothers Don, born 1937 and Phil, born 1939 came from a musical family and their first exposure to the music industry came while singing on their father Ike’s TV show at an early age.
Don and Phil were both guitarists and their simple vocal harmonies were a strong influence on Rock'n'Roll groups in 1960's such as The Beatles and the The Beach Boys. Their first single released in 1956 “Keep A’ Lovin Me” was a flop, however their next single “Bye Bye Love” reached No. 2 in the pop charts and became the Everly Brothers first million-seller.

The Everly Brothers toured with Buddy Holly in 1957 and 1958 before signing to Warner Bros Records in 1960 where they continued to have hits including "Cathy's Clown" which sold eight million copies “Walk Right Back", "Crying In The Rain" and "That's Old Fashioned."
After a stint in the marine core the duo resumed their singing career, however they never achieved the same success with only 3 of their singles making the Hot 100 between 1963 and 1970. The duo eventually split in 1973.
