Biography: 

Bob Marley was born on February 6th, 1945 the legendary songwriter and lead singer for the The Wailers. Marley was a great performer of reggae music and his success brought international interest both to Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement. The Wailers came to worldwide attention having been spotted and then promoted by Chris Blackwell who was setting up Island Records. Marley also worked with The Upsetters.

The first album 'Catch a Fire' was released worldwide in  1973 followed by “Get Up, Stand Up” which raised his international profile, (particularly when Eric Clapton released "I Shot The Sheriff" ) released in 1974.

Marley continued recording as “Bob Marley and The Wailers”  after his initial band members and he parted company, the new band included Carlton and AstonFamily Man” on drums, 1975, Marley’s international breakthrough was with  “No Woman, No Cry” from the "Natty Dread" album and followed by "Rastaman Vibration" in 1976.

In 1976, Marley left Jamaica for England and recorded his "Exodus" and "Kaya" albums.

"Babylon by Bus", a live album with 13 tracks was released in 1978.

Marley died at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami on the morning of  11th May 1981 after a long battle with cancer.

Marley was best known for his hits "Could You Be Loved", "Stir it Up", "Jamming",  "Redemption Song", "One Love" and "No Woman, No Cry"

The Legend”  album was released in 1984 after his death and it is one of the best selling reggae albums ever.
