THE FOUNDATIONS
The Foundations were a Birtish Soul band and were the first mixed race band to have a No. 1 UK hit with band members from Britain, the West Indies and Sri Lanka. The former members of the band include Arthur Brown (vocals), Eric Allendale (trombone), Pat Burke (tenor saxophone), Mike Elliot (tenor saxophone), Tony Gomez (keyboard), Alan Warner (lead guitar), Peter MacBeth (bass guitar), Mike D’Abo (piano), Tim Harris (drums), Clem Curtis (lead vocals), Colin Young (lead vocals), Steve Bingham (bass guitar) and Tim Harris.
The Foundations had two major hits, the first was “Baby Now That I’ve Found You” which went to No.1 in the UK and Canada and was Top 10 in the US. Their second track "Build Me Up Buttercup" was released in 1968 through Pye records. This well known record is still played today and was recently used in the film 'There's Something About Mary'. Their final hit was "Born to Live, Born to Die" after which the records dried up and they split in 1970.
