Daniel Jones comes from a long line of musicians. When Daniel was ten he was already playing the keyboard and drums in bars and hotels. Darren Hayes' show business experience extended no further than his involvement in many school plays. When Daniel and the band he'd started with his brothers advertised for a singer the inexperienced but enthusiastic Darren was the only hopeful to answer. He wasn't what was needed for a covers band playing the Gold Coast resort area of Queensland, but Darren inspired a different flame in Daniel and the pair broke away to start writing original songs.

Calling themselves Crush they sent 150 demo tapes all over the world and waited patiently for replies. The only positive response came from Australian music identity John Woodruff, who had previously managed the Angels and baby Animals. Woodruff secured a deal with film distributor Roadshow's record label offshoot, an independent distributed by Warners with no proven track record. He put the duo in the studio with Australian producer Charles Fisher who had previously created international breakthrough hits for Air Supply and Moving Pictures. The first single "I Want You" released in July 1996 reached #2 behind the dance craze hit "Macarena," but was followed by consecutive number ones with "To The Moon And Back" and "Truly Madly Deeply." When the self-titled debut album was released in April 1997 it entered the charts at #1 and notched up 13 weeks at the top, the third longest stay for any Australian-made album. In the meantime a Dallas radio station had started playing "I Want You" and the duo was signed to Sony's Columbia inprint. "I Want You" and "Truly Madly Deeply" became worldwide hits, the latter achieving #1 in the US in January 1998. The album sold 11 million copies globally and earned Savage Garden ten Australian ARIA Awards.

Hayes and Jones dealt with their success in their individual ways. Singer Hayes amicably ended his marriage, moved to a New York apartment and rubbed shoulders with his peers. Daniel Jones stayed in Brisbane wishing he could just write songs and make music in the studio. The second album Affirnation was basically written by phone and computer from their separate corners of the world. The album was produced in Los Angeles by award-winning Walter Afanasieff, known for his work with artists such as Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand. In January 2000 the album's lead-off single "I Knew I Loved You" gave Savage Garden its second US #1. ~ All Music Guide

Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi is a rock band hailing from New Jersey and labeled as one of the most successful acts in America. This five-piece made up of Jon Bon Jovi (lead vocals), Richie Sambora (lead guitar), David Bryan (keyboard), Hugh MacDonald (bass) and Tico Torres (drummer) is a largely unchanged lineup from 1984. Alec John Such (bass) left the band in the mid-90s.
Boasting over 120 million album sales and an obsession with touring, Bon Jovi had its first #1 hits with third album Slippery When Wet in 1986. The band hit popularity at the right time as the hair metal genre was dominating the charts. Jon Bon Jovi’s good looks, devastating smile and flowing locks was also a hit with the ladies, so much so that when he cut his hair for the 1992 release Keep the Faith it made the headlines of CNN.

Some of Bon Jovi’s music industry trailblazing includes a 1989 MTV Video Music Awards acoustic set that is acknowledged as the inspiration for the channel’s phenomenal Unplugged series and taking a unthought-of action for the time of firing all its business advisors and agents to set up Bon Jovi Management.
The band maintained its popularity amongst the 90s grunge movement with a power ballad, Bed of Roses and an extensive arena sell-out tour schedule.

After a lengthy hiatus in the late-90s, Bon Jovi returned with Crush in June 2000. It contained the single It’s My Life which paid tribute to the band’s fictional characters, Gina and Tommy, who also featured in the classic song Livin’ on a Prayer. The song sold 8 million copies and introduced the band to a whole new generation.
Despite mixed reviews on its subsequent album releases, the new millennium sees Bon Jovi transformed into a legendary act with an induction into the UK Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a Royal Variety Performance for the Queen, and cross-over awards in the country music genre. Bon Jovi continues to write new material, collaborate and tour globally.

OMD
The bass guitarist, primary songwriter and lead singer for Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), Andy McCluskey started his professional career in the '70s with friend and fellow vocalist Paul Humphreys. In the January of 1980 they released the album 'OMD', and in September released 'Organization', which had the hit single 'Enola Gay', the first song of the band to enter the top 10 singles in the UK music charts, with the later albums, 'Architeture and Morality' in 1981, 'Dazzle Ships' in 1983, 'Junk Culture' in 1984, and 'Crush' in 1985.
The late 80's saw a drop in the success of the band. Andy McCluskey and his partner retained their huge fan following with albums like "The Pacific Age"(1986), but the band failed to recreate the success of its heyday. In 1989, Paul Humphreys and the rest of the band members left OMD. Andy McCluskey kept the band name intact and brought out three albums. Whilst the first one, Sugar Tax (1991), was the biggest selling album of OMD, the remaining albums "Liberator" and "Universal" fell flat . In 1998, Andy McCluskey formed an all-girl UK pop band featuring the female trio, singer come songwriters Liz McClarnon, Natasha Hamilton, and Jenny Frost, known as 'Atomic Kitten'.
