Biography: 

Little Richard (Rev. Richard Wayne Penniman) born on December 5th 1932 is a singer/songwriter, who had groundbreaking performance hit singles between 1955 and 1957 such as 'Tutti Frutti', 'Lucille' and 'Long Tall Sally', which helped lay the foundations of Rock ‘n’ Roll music. He was one of the first artists to be inducted in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and in 2007 'Tutti Frutti' topped Mojo's Top 100 Records That Changed The World.

After the massive success of 'Tutti Frutti' in 1955 a string of hits followed, however, in 1957 at the top of his fame, Little Richard abandoned rock ‘n’ roll music to become a born again Christian, enrolling in Bible College and recording and performing only gospel music up until the early sixties. After this period, Little Richard, returned to performing the hits which made him famous and released new material. By the eighties he was performing rock n’ roll music with spiritual lyrics finally reconciling his role as minister and artist.

Biography: 

Patti Smith was born on 30th December 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. A well-admired American singer, song writer, visual artist and poet, Smith released her debut album "Horses" in 1975 and is considered as the 'Godmother of Punk'.

Patti Smith’s biggest hit "Because the Night" was an international hit and went to No. 13 in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978. During 2005, the French Minister of Culture named Smith the Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Smith released the seminal punk album "Radio Ethiopia" on Arista Records in 1976, produced by Jack Douglas.

Patti Smith's albums included "Horses", "Easter", "Radio Ethiopia", "Dream of Life", "Wave", "Gone Again", "Gung Ho", "Peace and Noise" and "Twelve and Trampin'". Smith's distinctive and unique style of performance drew on alternative rock and protopunk. As well as a singer, she was also a dab hand at musical instruments such as the clarinet and guitar.

Apart from working solo, she also worked with singer Tom Verlaine. Smith is now 63 and still active in music.

Biography: 

Marvin Gaye was born on 2nd April 1939, his original name being Marvin Pentz Gaye Jr. he was a well respected American singer who was an original song writer and who had a three octave vocal range. Gaye began his musical career by becoming a member in The Moonglows. The group separated in 1960 and Gaye followed his solo career and signed with Motown Records.

Marvin Gaye started work for the label as a session drummer, but after moving onto record for them became one of the top selling solo performers for Motown .

Marvin Gaye also sung duets with singers like Tammi Terrell and Mary Wells. Gaye’s songs brought him international admiration and he was often called "The Prince of Soul" and "The Prince of Motown". He was internationally successful with big hits in the USA Uk and indeed around the World. His style blended a range of musical genres such as soul, R&B, psychedelic soul, funk, and rock & roll.

Marvin Gaye was a multi-instrumentalist, keyboards, percussion, drums, synthesizers, clavinet. Albums include "What's Going On", "Diana & Marvin", "Let's Get It On", "I Want You", "Marvin Gaye Live!", "Midnight Love", "Live at the London Palladium", "The Very Best of Marvin Gaye" and "Marvin Gaye: The Love Songs".

Gaye released most of his albums through Columbia and Motown (Tamla-Motown).

Gaye had a troubled personal and business life, falling out with Motown and battling alcohol and drug addiction. During an argument over missing business documents his father fatally shot him in 1984.
